Applied Economics (M.Sc.)

Der Studiengang / The study program

The research-oriented program M. Sc. Applied Economics, taught in English, is designed as a full-time, two-year program (120 credits).
Within the framework of the program, you can choose between two specialization tracks:
International Economic Policy (IEP) and Empirical Analysis (EA)
The specialization International Economic Policy is the perfect choice if you are interested in issues of international economic policy. The special role of international organizations in times of crisis is also taken into account. Key issues covered include the role of international organizations such as the IMF or the World Bank in the global economy, how international and multilateral institutions such as the EU, ASEAN or Mercosur are structured and how economic integration processes function. Global financial markets and their effects on the real economy are also examined.
The second specialization, Empirical Analysis, has a strong focus on empirical, quantitative and experimental research, with a national and international perspective. With core modules such as Dynamic Quantitative Economics, it is aimed at economists as well as at quantitatively- or empirically-oriented business economists. In contrast to pure statistics or econometrics, the focus is on practical application.
The program is divided into a compulsory part, an elective part, three seminars which fit thematically to a compulsory or an elective module, and the master thesis.
The Applied Economics Master Program prepares you for a career in international organizations, multinational firms, economic research institutes, consultancy firms, insurance companies, amongst many others in the international economy.
